From School Library Journal
PreS–Yaccarino has taken a traditional folk song and enhanced the lyrics to create a clever and entertaining variation. These little ducks go over the hill, across the lake, under the water, into the town, and into the woods. The stylized illustrations have clear lines and lots of interesting and clever details to enhance the story. The ducklings look very smug about their newfound independence, alligators and turtles function as transportation for them, and, in the end, when Mother Duck calls them back, they fly home on newly fledged wings. This title will make a fine addition to any board book collection and an enjoyable variation for storytimes.–Be Astengo, Alachua County Library, Gainesville, FL
