From the Author

As a Internet consultant and trainer, I found that many of my computer clients were confused about the . They did not understand the mechanics of the Internet and how it differed from online services. In 1996 I decided to write a brochure devoted to answering those questions. The brochure was so successful that it led to a proposal that I write a booklet on the topic for a software company. Even though the negotiations on that project fell through, it started me on a journey of researching the Internet and I quickly realized that the topic was much bigger than I had originally envisioned. I began to see how the Internet is reaching into every aspect of our lives: the way we communicate, the way we conduct transactions, and ultimately the way we think about ourselves and organize our affairs as a society. I began a year of research and writing and Web Without a Weaver was born!
